What I’m Looking Forward to This Month : April

Apr 1, 2024

Life

Hello April! 👋🏻

The month when the temperatures begin rising (and I can work outside comfortably again!) and the rains bless us (albeit, sometimes with some strong storms around here…that we just watch from the front porch 🙃 #midwestthings) in preparation for a gorgeous May and summer beyond 🌷

Though occasionally the temperatures can remain a tad on the cooler side this month, it will always be one of my favorites of the year because it’s a reminder that the warmer temps are arriving to stick around for a bit! 👏🏻

WHAT AM I LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS MONTH? 🪴

🪴 Baseball Season and Our Home Opener! It’s finally back! As I noted last month, baseball is a significant deal in our house. Spring Training is a big deal, too, but watching the games on TV just isn’t the same as being there. The Home Opener is an unofficial holiday in our city and someday it will land on our anniversary where we have no choice but to attend 🤷‍♀️😉. Though we won’t be participating in the home opener in person this year, we will be watching all the festivities on our big screen at home and attending our first game of the season (and the bump’s first game!) that weekend. We can’t wait!

🪴 Our Third Wedding Anniversary For some strange reason, it feels like we’ve been married for longer than three years already. Maybe it was because every year since 2020 has felt like a blur or maybe because we were together for so long before we were married. Either way, the hubby and I are excited to celebrate another fantastic year together and are looking forward to this anniversary year being the one where we become mom and dad. We don’t have any major plans (baby is taking a lot of importance lately) but surely we’ll get dinner out or something and have some “us” time for the evening 💜.

🪴 Yard Sale Season Getting Underway Another one of our favorite periods of the year in our household! My husband grew up thrifting with his dad and ultimately handed the love of it over to me when we began dating. I’ve always loved a good craft project and my eye for a fine thrift piece has evolved over the years. I’m hoping to find some outstanding pieces this year to share with you all, along with stocking up on some clothes for baby boy.

🪴 Baby Shower…x2! When you come from a large family, you end up getting two showers to make it a bit more manageable for the hosts. My sister proposed hosting my side of the family and having my sister-in-law and best friend host my husband’s side and all of our friends, who are all essentially my SIL’s friends. I’m not one to like being the center of attention, but if it’s for our baby boy, I think I can suck it up. Our little guy is so loved already and we can’t wait to spoil him this month! 💙

🪴 Working on Our Boy’s Nursery Some More Though I haven’t had any third-trimester fatigue kick in yet, the super-prepared side of me likes the idea of being ready in case it does. I’ve come up with multiple DIY craft projects to adorn the nursery walls with and I’m so, so eager to get started on them and see how they turn out! His room will by far be the most decorated in the house, but he’s worth it. I’m aiming to get just about every part of his room decorated and settled by the end of the month so we can spend May concentrating on little items we may still need and June focusing on waiting for his arrival! It’s getting so close!

🪴 Maternity Photoshoot If you adore the shots of our wedding photos above like I do, then you’re going to love our maternity photos. Our wedding photographer has easily become our go-to person when we need updated or new photos for our home. We fell in love with her talent and her personality and I’m so honored to display her work.

I’ve always gone back and forth between even doing a maternity shoot when we became pregnant, but after some thought, I fell in love with the idea of documenting our pregnancy before our little guy graced us with his presence and he was more real, so to speak. I found the perfect dress to wear and I’m so excited to see how they turn out!

🪴 More Doctor’s Appointments and Ultrasounds! We had our latest check-up last Friday and baby boy is still growing nicely! Because he’s in the 95th percentile (😬!), we get some bonus ultrasounds every other appointment now to make sure he’s still doing good in there. This momma is not complaining about that! Any image I can get of him until he’s here, I will take! It seems surreal that our next few appointments will be the start of discussing his arrival and labor, etc. but the anticipation and thought of being able to hold and love on him outranks that any day. We’re so ready!
