Decorate with Me! No. 02: Spring Decor Refresh

Mar 19, 2024

Home+Garden

Sniffs Can you smell that? Blossoming flowers, freshly cut grass, a soft rain shower. Spring is officially here!

Spring has forever been my favorite season of the year. I love the clean, renewed slate that it brings. The reinvigorated air at just the right temperature (usually, here in the Midwest), the trees and flowers beginning to bloom once more, and how the sky just seems to be such a more brilliant hue of blue. You can’t help but cherish it!

Nothing makes our home feel like home to me than keeping our decor in line with the season. It might seem like some extra work to some, but for me, it helps keep a cozy vibe in our space that makes me enjoy waking up in the morning and coming home at the end of a long day. Though I presently have more decorations for Fall and Christmas, I’m gradually collecting spring decor for each room of our home to brighten it up a bit more inside and correspond to the color scheme nature is offering outside. Here’s a little inspiration of how I revive our home with spring decor each year:

FOYER TABLE

This table is the first thing guests see when entering our home and I always make sure it is decorated and looking its best. I updated the vases with some bright spring florals (orchids and calla lilies are two of my dearest!) as well as the wreath in our ‘HOME’ wall decor. This birdcage was just too charming to pass up and felt so appropriate with the season. I currently have an Easter sign up but once that passes, I switch it out with a springy sign.

All faux florals are purchased from Hobby Lobby, Joann, or Walmart. Two clear vases and a small white vase were all Hobby Lobby purchases but are no longer available on their website, however, here is an option similar to the small white vase along with a geometric-shaped one that’s cute! The Easter sign was purchased at Joann’s but is also no longer available on their website. Green rope decor, wooden ‘Hello’, and wooden crate are also from Hobby Lobby.

TV STAND

We don’t have a ton of decor nowadays for our TV stand, but that’s only because there are supposed to be two doors on the front that just haven’t gotten done yet (another DIY project to share, perhaps?). That won’t stop me from freshening up what I can now though! I similarly update the vases with some cheerful florals and greenery. I change these vases out for every season and, I have to say, this combination of colors is my favorite to see. Combined with a new lantern and signage, this spot comes to life.

All faux florals were purchased from Hobby Lobby, Joann, or Walmart. The “It’s Good to Be Home” mason jar sign was a housewarming gift. Lantern is no longer available on the Hobby Lobby website but this is a similar style available! Large ‘L’ and white frames are from Amazon. Small greenery is from Hobby Lobby and the ‘Sunny Days Ahead’ candle was a clearance Target item. Two gray crates were also from Hobby Lobby but don’t appear available on their website.

CHALKBOARD + WREATH

When we moved into this home, I wanted a chalkboard somewhere. I always saw fun and beautifully designed chalkboard art on Pinterest and it inspired me to have my own to practice on. I try my best to change the board seasonally, but currently, its priority is baby until our little one arrives this summer. I also updated this small wreath with some spring florals to fit the scheme of the wreath near our front door.

All faux florals were purchased from Hobby Lobby. The clock is also from Hobby Lobby. The chicken wire shadow box is from Amazon.

COUNTERTOPS

This wooden container and the white hydrangeas were reserves from our wedding decor that I couldn’t allow myself to get rid of once we were married. Up until then, all I ever had on this counter was a lone candle but adored the thought of adding the hydrangeas in this container to lighten up this large space on the counter. Now, if only I could grow hydrangeas like that in real life!

Candle was a clearance item found at Goodwill. Easter bunny is from Joann but doesn’t appear to be available anymore.

FRONT PORCH

I am a BIG sucker for curb appeal and was so eager to have a spacious front porch to go all out on with decor each season! I DIY-ed a wreath for every season and LOVE this one I created a couple of years ago for our front porch. These lanterns were also a leftover from our wedding and I love filling the mason jars with even more spring hues to make a statement against the matte black. I wash our layering rug for the new season and set out our rainbow coir mat on top (because we support #pride around here 🌈). I also bring out our cushions and add some more faux florals in this pretty vase from my husband’s late grandmother. The only thing I miss not being able to set up on the first day of spring is all my live flowers! Because the temperatures still fluctuate so much at the opening of spring around here, I usually wait until the end of April, sometimes even mid-May before I plant all my spring and summer flowers. It’s a letdown, to say the least, but it explains all of the faux florals I decorate with in the meantime!

All faux florals were purchased from Dollar Tree. Wreath frame and floral purchased from Hobby Lobby. Rainbow coir mat was purchased in the Aldi Aisle of Shame 😂. Lanterns were DIY-ed and mason jars were from Walmart, I believe. Our chairs and cushions were given to us by some sweet friends and the table is another Goodwill find.
